Hyundai Genesis is what exactly?

Bought a copy of Car & Driver while in the US and enjoyed a long term test review of the Hyundai Genesis. Only it wasn't a sporty V6, it was a luxury V8. What the hell?

Yeah, there is two versions, a sporty coupe and a semi-luxury sedan.

Kinda like the infiniti g37 coupe and sedan. Only that the genesis models have almost nothing in common with eachother besides the name.

So nothing like the Infinity G37 coupe and sedan...

No, the coupe is roughly the size of the old Hyundai Tibouron, maybe a little larger. The Sedan is the size of a Lexus LS 460. The Equuis is a larger more luxurious version of the Genesis. Think E Class and S Class.

To be honest, when I hear Genesis, I think of the sedan. I see more of them than the coupes.

They're based off of the same platform, but there's a Hyundai Genesis...:

Yeah, this. They're on the same platform, but still quite different vehicles. For instance, there's a larger V-8 that Hyundai's planning on putting in the Genesis Sedan, but it won't fit into the bay of the Genesis Coupe. The Genesis Coupe is fairly sizable...definitely bigger than the Tiburon. Much closer to the Mustang and Camaro.

Hyundai was thinking making Genesis a separate luxury marque, and these two vehicles would have been the first offerings. I guess the names just kind of stuck, even though the vehicles have different missions now.

I thought of getting a genesis coupe. But a wrx is more practical. Plus it is turbocharged.

I'm interested in the Genesis Coupe, but I doubt it's going to be a realistic possibility for a while. I'm hankering to see what the Elantra Coupe is going to offer, as well as the Veloster.

I'm interested in the Genesis coupe too. I saw somewhere recently that they're finally bringing it here late this year or maybe it was early next year. I'm curious about what the local price it will be.

you could get a turbocharged Genesis, but given that the turbo is more or less for fuel economy's sake--the n/a 3.8 handily outperforms it--why would you?

I barely see Genesis Coupes. I have seen a couple on the road and the one they use on Burn Notice.

I have seen several Genesis Sedans and one Equuis on the road.

Because the 4-pot turbo is Mitsubishi based and is easily up-gradable to higher than V6 power.... plus it weighs less and therefore handles better.

I didn't know they made a turbo genesis beside the HKS one in Forza.

I also would love a 370z, but too impractical and too expensive. Didn't want a 350 because my brother has one.

If you get the track package they will come with camber bolts in the glove box. lol

You would have to add FI, that's a pain in the balls.

I think its best to start with an engine with FI already unless you are spending big bucks anyway.

You'd still have a front heavy overweight tourer, and not a lighter, better balanced sporty coupe.
