13sfor1300
so a couple of guys on another forum decided it would be fun to have a forumwide challenge
so the forum owner put up a wooden niggerdick ashtray for the winners
the challenge: 13 for 1300
make a 13s or faster car, for a budget of max 1300 AUD
so quite a few people started a project, but so far only 4 people ran their cars at the dragstrip

1JZGTE
quite a bit of small mods (read: repairs)
this one was the first one to run,
but didn't get in the 13s

Re: 13sfor1300
number three;
vn of fury
weight reduction, little things and they turboed it, did a lot of self fabrication, budget of 1281 aud
their first attempt
13.953 @ 99.88mph
then, a week later:
13.596@100.67
then, they added a different stall converter, and practiced launches
13.0000000002
just great fun this is!

Re: 13sfor1300
then the final team, "the red streak"
100 bucks of car
$36 for a fan belt
$100 for a set of 4.11's
$90 for a mini spool from ebay I bought like 5 years ago, but I may just weld the diff.
$200 for the nitrous kit (I think - may have been $150. Seriously don't remember). May be irrelevant if nitrous is not allowed.
$30 for the hotdog
$10 for the downpipe exhaust
$195 for the stall converter (Guy was shitty haha his offsider fucked up the ad as it was meant to be $100 more.)
$40 Corvette servo
$50 carton of beer (EEPROM reprogram)
some other fiddly shit I don't remember. (spark plugs/tek screws)
Running total: $890
these guys also took out all reinforcements from the trunk lid, and basicly cut out everything they could.
first try: 13.5 @ 100mph, having issues with mixture
but after a couple of weeks of tuning and re adjusting and shit
that's right! 12.4s quarter mile car, with a budget of under 1000 AUD
i actually feel sad that we don't have drag strips here...

Re: 13sfor1300
So you're trying to get a car to run 13s for $1,300 bucks. That's cool.

i know right? and the current best is at 12.5 for 900 dollars
Re: 13sfor1300
Pretty cool idea. Sounds like a lot of fun. The Aussies have a lot to work with in stock vehicle form. Lots of straight sixes and V8s to work with out there. Wish I had money, I'd jump on this.
