I really, really want one of these
The ride height is a joke, but otherwise I just can't help thinking this is the coolest car I've seen in ages. I would love to do something like this myself (although with an original 69 Skyline), but I lack both the mechanical skills and freedom from having to answer to a wife and daughter...

if you get it up a tad higher, the arches won't fit as smoothly as they do now, and it'll never look as awesome.
Re: I really, really want one of these
To me, it would. It's a rat-rod, so it isn't the ride-height that makes it, it's the general attitude of the car (courtesy of looking so beat up).ascona wrote:if you get it up a tad higher, the arches won't fit as smoothly as they do now, and it'll never look as awesome.

I remember seeing that same S30 on the Motor Mavens website. pretty cool shit, ride height, offset and all. That makes it for me.
but i personally would not leave it looking so beat up. they're pretty cars, and it would look soooo much better if it was clean.
that 2000GT is money though.

I get the aesthetic appeal of that 240, but I'm more on Turbojetts side here - I'd rather it were cleaned up and polished to look like new. Plus those wheels need to go.

I like the idea of owning a rat rod. Dodge has the right idea.

the wheels aren't so bad, but I'd have gone with a set of Wats myself. They go good on basically every pre-90's car from Japan.thewalrus wrote:Turbojett wrote:I remember seeing that same S30 on the Motor Mavens website. pretty cool shit, ride height, offset and all. That makes it for me.

as for the z, saw it a while ago on the 240net boards, and it got generally the same reception, some hated it because it wasn't restored, most loved its unique raw-ness.
I side with the later.

I like it but wouldn't want to own it. Always wanted a white 240Z in original condition (maybe with retrimmed leather seats).
And my previous post wasn't trying to compare the 2000GT to the 240 or anything - I just thought it was awesome to have that car and the Stratos in the same pic.

Re: I really, really want one of these
the 240Z and 2000GT were done by the same guy, though. It was Goertz, wasn't it?

Re: I really, really want one of these
Goertz worked with Datsun before taking his design to Toyota, so the 240Z is really an in-house design.

yeah i read up on it. the 2000GT was originally supposed to be a Nissan, co-developed with Yamaha, but Nissan scrapped it and then Yamaha took it to Toyota.
