Infiniti G37X
Anyone ever driven a new G37 with the 7speed automatic. They finally decided to build the G37 coupe with AWD. God its tempting, I just love the way it looks.
disclaimer. I cant bring myself to buying a new car until I am finished with this job in Cold Lake.

I haven't driven one, but I can't bring my self to drive anything with more than 6 gears unless it has a 500 hp diesel and tandem axles.
I feel that anything over a 6 speed is overkill.

6 speed autos almost seem like too many gears, i know 8 speed autos are.
Don't know about 7.

That car looks ok now. But it seems to be a bit conservative. I wouldn't be surprised if it didn't date quickly.

What about a CTS Coupe when they come out?

I find the opposite is true. Cars that are designed a bit conservatively usually date slower.

Depends on the car. In most cases, if a bold design is a good one, it influences the competition to ape it and the style sticks for a while. Conservative cars may not date quickly if they're very clean designs, like some BMWs and Hondas. But others, such as the Malibu from two styles ago, and the last version of the pre-500 Taurus get old extremely fast.

I am not buying a GM unless its a 3/4 tonne or larger truck.

The difference is that BMW and (to an extent) Honda are style leaders. Their cars might be conservative, but they still manage to set the themes for that generation of rival designs. Even the Nissan here appears to have stolen the M3's front intake styling.
The problem with the G37 is it looks a generation old already. The G35 was a big step forward and they've clearly decided only minor tweaks were called for. I love the subtle wheelarches and the curves from the headlights to the windscreen. But there's nothing to suggest this is a 2009 model.
And I'm glad everyone understood that I was trying to say this car would date quickly. Double-negatived my original post and screwed up the meaning.

Re: Infiniti G37X
i find it looks great in person, but it was only a lateral move, and not an improvement, i find the old one was a really great bit of work.
that said, underneath, the new car is immeasurably better. it's only direct injection from being pretty much perfect...
