Tales of a DSM Empty Tales of a DSM

Post by 1300ZUK Sat Mar 19, 2011 11:00 pm

One of my co-workers was looking at buying a dsm as a project car. Long story short, he finds one on CL in Atlanta for a $500 bucks.

91 Plymouth Laser RS with supposedly a Bad Clutch. Push it on the trailer and away we go.

Vehicle will not start, starter just grinds, i started to remove Starter to see why it doesn't crank. Starter is only held on with one bolt, and the ground wire is making contact via gravity. Remove starter, starter is only held together loosely with one bolt, Pinion gear is shot. Install new starter, vehicle starts and easily drives around the yard. Pretty much every bolt under the hood is finger tight or missing, the transmission appears to not fit the engine and the body is perfect for cruising around in the dirty south.

Now the engine must come out, because it leaks oil just as fast as you can add it.

Man, I can not believe that DSMs have actually been a part of my life for the last 10 years now. A decade of crank walk and jackstand jokes. My God. :undies:
