Inglorious Basterds
Has anyone else seen it yet? I thoroughly enjoyed it and the violence is really top notch. Brad Pitt is very good in his role.

is it one of those movies where they portray the germans as bumbling idiots who are too incompetent to even kill a roach let alone enemy soldiers?

I really hate Quentin Tarantino's films, except maybe Pulp Fiction. But even that movie was way overrated.

Talon- 1992: EuroDisney opens. Ugh.

Hollywood can hardly do real WWII movies accurately and well, so a fictional one is not my cup of tea.

I liked Reservoir Dogs much better than Pulp Fiction. I never understood the fuss about PF.

pulp fiction is one of the most quotable movies of all time. and its a good movie but i agree about it being overrated. i wonder what people would think of this new movie if tarantino wasnt the director.

imo the best wwii movies arent even ones made here. "der untergang" and "das boot", both german movies. saving private ryan is pretty good too, mainly just for the d-day scene at the beginning though.

You're nuts. Saving Private Ryan is a hell of a lot more than the d-day scene at the beginning. I suggest you watch it again.

Not really. It probably isn't even the kind of movie you're actually expecting and it's nothing like any other ww2 movie I've ever seen.

I'm sure that has a great influence on a lot of people but honestly I could give two shits that he directed it. I don't worship his catalog by any means.

Re: Inglorious Basterds
Some of the best and generally accurate WWII movies include.
The Battle of Britain: Some of the best flying scenes filmed for a movie picture.
Tora Tora Tora: Well thought script with good details leading up to the attack out and quite accurate (short of having to make non accurate aircraft fill the roll of the real ones actually used).
The Longest Day: Nicely done, great cast even if it was mostly US centric.
The Great Escape: Just a great movie.
Bridge on the River Kwai: Excellent story told quite accurately.
Memphis Belle: Nicely done great script and a powerful story.
The Dam Busters: An oldy but again well done and generally accurate.
Patton: Well made movie about an American WWII icon.
Some think it's not that good but IMO Midway is a pretty accurate WWII movie about the battle that changed the tide of war in the Pacific.
The Desert Fox: A good overview about likely the most notable German general of WWII.
The Rise of Evil: 3 part mini series, well done about the life and Rise of Hitler up to his end.
I'm sure I am missing some others.

Regardless, that doesn't mean that his movies can't be good. I can't believe the dick sucking district 9 got and seemingly none of you are even willing to see this movie. Honestly, I liked this one better.

Of course it doesnt mean his movies cant be good. But when I see people saying his movies are awesome I'm always a bit skeptical about it, unless I know they're not a fanboy who would worship a turd he laid in a brown paper bag.

From what I understand, aside from them both being set in World War 2, the new movie is nothing like the original.

I saw an interview where someone asked him why the title has the weird spelling and he said something like, "Man, I ain't ever gonna tell you man, because man, it's called artistic license man, and there's a secret meaning man that you'll have to figure out man yourself, man!"
And I'm just thinking, "Translation: you spelled it wrong on the screenplay and by the time you realized it, you were stuck with it."

Either that or he was worried they wouldn't put "bastards" in the title in ads and at the theater and shit.
