They're showing them on A&E or something now. I keep seeing commercials for it on basic cable.

Les_Vipers_rule wrote:Some of the best and generally accurate WWII movies include.

The Battle of Britain: Some of the best flying scenes filmed for a movie picture.

Tora Tora Tora: Well thought script with good details leading up to the attack out and quite accurate (short of having to make non accurate aircraft fill the roll of the real ones actually used).

The Longest Day: Nicely done, great cast even if it was mostly US centric.

The Great Escape: Just a great movie.

Bridge on the River Kwai: Excellent story told quite accurately.

Memphis Belle: Nicely done great script and a powerful story.

The Dam Busters: An oldy but again well done and generally accurate.

Patton: Well made movie about an American WWII icon.

Some think it's not that good but IMO Midway is a pretty accurate WWII movie about the battle that changed the tide of war in the Pacific.

The Desert Fox: A good overview about likely the most notable German general of WWII.

The Rise of Evil: 3 part mini series, well done about the life and Rise of Hitler up to his end.

I'm sure I am missing some others.

This new movie may not be your cup of tea - some artistic licence is taken with historical events.

I actually didn't know much about this movie when I saw it - just that it starred Brad Pitt. But Tarantino's name in the opening credits set the scene quite well. And I'm incredibly greatful that, having seen it in Bangkok, it was in English with Thai subtitles rather than the more common Thaidub with English subs. Because the latter would have completely ruined the hilarious Italian scene (and probably everything else).
