Borderlands

Post by VS on Tue Oct 27, 2009 9:02 am

I got this game yesterday for PC and I have to say it's pretty fun. There are some minor issues with it, but overall it's a blast to play, esp. co-op. It's basically a first person shooter rpg. You shoot dudes and they drop loot.

I need a good pirate game where I can loot towns and have sword fights.

Looks alot like Fallout 3. I'll probably get it from Gamefly after I'm done with ODST.

You have a long way to go before achieving total failure, but you're on the right path

The co-op is the best part. It's kind of like a dumbed down, cell-shaded, multiplayer fallout.

That's exactly my take on it. Started playing it tonight. I actually really like it.

The combat is more dynamic than Fallout, I think. The story and RPG elements in Fallout were great, but considering how much combat there was, it was never really as satisfying as this. Plus, random loot is sweet.

Fallout + Diablo.

I agree that combat in fallout felt onerous after a little while whereas this game I tend to run right into groups of enemies.

I think the main thing is that Fallout was like an FPS wrapper on an RPG, whereas this feels an FPS with RPG elements, so its a lot more rewarding if you can actually aim. It's nice that headshots directly translate into criticals.

My friends and I were ripping through the game last night...I got an 'elephant rifle' as a quest reward that does ~1700 damage on a critical.
