And now, your top five cars of the previous decade

A sort of continuation of Les' thread, but more recent; from 2000- 2009. And since it's fresh in our memories, you get two additional slots to play with:

1: 2009 Chevrolet Corvette ZR1: The Blue Devil. The King of the Hill. Whatever you call it, it proved once again that American cars, and Corvettes in particular, could run with and even beat the best the world has to offer.

2: 2008 Nissan GT-R: Does this really need an explanation? So it doesn't have a clutch pedal. So it has a whole bunch of electronics whistling while you work. So what? The thing's still freakin' phenomenal.

3: 2000 - 03 Ferrari 360: Even with properly pretty Ferraris like the 458 and LaFerrari out right now, and even though a brand new Mustang can out perform it...I still think it's the prettiest modern Ferrari, as opposed to the 430, which (Scuderia aside) looked kinda stupid.

4: 2006 Pontiac GTO: Gets a bad rap, because (insert bullshit reason here), but the last generation GTO was a great car, and signaled the return of the real Muscle cars (even if they were technically imports), and the '06 model was the most capable, and IMO best looking.

5: 2005-06 Ford GT: What better way to celebrate the car that gave Enzo nightmares, than to just make a new one? And while it technically would be considered an exotic supercar, it was still a musclecar at heart.

OK. I can do this.

1. Lotus Elise (Series II). A fantastic spiritual successor of the 7 and the Elan. Definitely took the looks department in a new direction - but its aged well. Really well even. I will own one, one day.

2. Porsche Cayman THe best sports car that Porsche makes? I'd probably rather own a Boxster for daily driving - but only slightly. And the Boxster doesn't make the cut here, since it debuted in the late 90s. I'm also not convinced that I actually like the Boxster more.

3. Ferrari 360 For precisely the same reasons as Turbojett. Just a gorgeous car. I'd rather have one of those than a higher performing, newer, variant. Any day of the week.

4. Corvette C6 Z06. The ultimate expression of what the Corvette has always been about. At least until the C7 debuted. Immense power and performance, for a not unrealistic price.

5. Audi All Road Quattro I can't think of a better combination of style, performance, capability and practicality.

1, 2, 3, 4 & 5. Porsche 911 GT3RS - almost the perfect example of a drivers car.

6. Nissan GT-R - amazing what technology can do.
7. Mercedes S-Class - class leading in every way and some seriously impressive innovations on automated driving and safety.
8. Tesla Roadster - the first desirable electric car?
9. Impreza P1 - probably the best rally special ever built.

1: 2010 Dodge Viper SRT/10 coupe: Last year of the second version.

2: 2010 Chevrolet Corvette Grand Sport: Not the TOTL line Vette but a nice car to money ratio.

3: 2010 Nissan GTR: GODZILLA.

4: 2009 Cadillac CTS-V Sedan: A very fast Cadillac

5: 2006 BMW M3: A nice all around Beemer

The Grand Sport took what was great about the base C6, and made it even better.

...now if only I could find inexpensive models of them...

Corvette C6 Z06. It's the first Corvette I really liked.

Mitsubishi Evo VIII/IX. Rally bread road car. Best performance for the money car of its generation, IMO.

Porsche GT3 RS. Basically a track ready Porsche with three pedals, right from the facotry.

Ferrari F430. For when I want to go fast without trying, and pull more ass than a toilet seat. A vast improvement over the 360.

Ferrari FXX. Pretty self explanatory.

2001-2003 BMW M5 - Just a badass sedan. Truly one of the last great BMW designs. The BMW films of the early 2000s definitely made me want one.

2003 Mazda Rx-7 Spirit R - The last and the best.

2002 Pontiac SLP Firehawk - I had a friend in college that owned one. What an awesome car. The '98-'02 Firebirds looked awesome, even sinister to some respect, especially at night.

2008 Audi R8 5.2 FSi - I have always loved the R8. The V8 car is good car, but the V-10 is a better car.

2008 Ford BF Falcon XR6 Turbo - I think these are one of the best cars Ford has ever made for the masses. Yes they have more powerful FPV versions, but the XR6 Turbo is nothing to turn your nose at. 330hp and 350ft-lbs of torque out of a turbo inline 6.

Wait. How are we all forgetting about the Camaro SS '01.

Where would we all, honestly, be were it not for that car?

I'd rather the '02, 35th anniversary edition and last 4th gen.

1. You guys made me remember this one. 0-100km/h in under 3 seconds from an almost-affordable car, plenty of Tarmac rally wins and pissing off Porsche cement it's place in any loop car list. The effort Nissan put into this car puts nearly every other manufacturer to shame. Above all else, it's greatest accomplishment is ruining the reputation of the R32-34 generations in every group test that has brought the cars together.

2. AMG C63. Great overall luxury hot rod.

3. Audi S5.

4. BMW 135i. A bit heavy for its size but probably the only car on this list I would actually buy.

5. Mustang 5.0. For the memories.
