What would be your top three cars to choose if you could fill a car guy's garage with from these decades, 1960's, 1970's, 1980's, 1990's

Mine are as of this date. Of course time and moods may change things, but as of this date this is how I feel.

1960's
1: 1969-1970, Plymouth Barracuda, preferably a Hemi and if possible a manual transmission.
2: 1970, Dodge Charger, 426 Hemi or 440 would be ok.
3: Late 60's Plymouth Roadrunner, preferably a Hemi again.

1970's
1: 1970-73, Datsun 240z, nothing more to say, one of the best looking sports cars in the 1970's
2: 1977-78, Pontiac Firebird, Formula or T/A. Prefer 400cid but open to other V-8's. Would prefer 4 speed manual but ok with auto.
3: 1978, Corvette, Indy Pace Car. It's one of the most notable Vettes from a dark era in Corvette history.

1980's
1: 1987-89, Toyota Supra (Turbo) Preferred turbo but n/a car ok, Manual transmission please.
2: 1987-89, Mitsubishi Starion ESi /Dodge Conquest TSi, Turbo cars with 5 speed manual a rwd. These fly under the radar today.
3: 1987-89, Dodge Daytona Shelby Z, 2.2L, Inter turbo, 5 speed. I LOVED THIS CAR! I happily owned one for many years.

1990's
1: 1993-1996, Mazda RX-7. Last but best, 5 speed please.
2: 1991-1996, Nissan 300ZX (Turbo). Preferred turbo but n/a car ok. Manual transmission please. Classic 90's sports coupe.
3: 1994-1999, Pontiac Firebird, Formula or T/A. prefer model with WS6 options a manual transmission.

Of course there are many other cars from each decade that I like but at this moment these are my feelings as to cars I like in each decade. IMO any would by nice cars to own and drive.

What made you choose an LT1 Camaro instead of an LS1?

I like that body style before the '98 facelift. My brother had a '95. Yes the LT1 had it's issues with optispark, but it's nothing an engine conversion wouldn't take care of.

okay, I may come back later and amend this once I've given more thought to it.

1960s:
1967 Chevrolet Corvette Sting Ray 427
1962 Ferrari 250 GTO (although I also have to agree with Pennz on the 250 California; it was certainly the prettiest one)
1969 Ford Mustang Boss 302... no, '67 Shelby GT500, no... shit.

1970s:
1970 Chevrolet Corvette Stingray 454 ZR-2 (I would say ZR-1 on this too, but that was an LT-1; with a ZR-2, you get handling AND power!)
1971 Nissan Skyline GT-R
1970 Pontiac GTO Judge (455, Ram Air IV)
1973 BMW 3.0 CSL with full "Batmobile" aero package (Originally included it before I put in the GTO; didn't have the heart to drop it wub )

1980s:
1984 Ferrari 288 GTO (sorry, F40.)
1988 Lamborghini Countach LP5000 QV
1989 BMW M3 Sport Evo

1990s:
1995 Chevrolet Corvette ZR-1
1996 Dodge Viper GTS coupe
1997 Nissan Skyline GT-R V-Spec
1995 Ferrari F50 (as a bonus, just cuz I love 'em!)

I like that body style better also.I have heard that those headlights on the 93 to 97 suck though as far as lighting quality is concerned.

Whoa. An actual car topic.

1960s:
1. 1965 Mustang notchback. K-code. The original performance pony car. I like the notchback over the fastback for personal reasons - first classic car I ever rode in was a 65 notchback.
2. 1961 Jaguary E-Type. Series One. Coupe or Cabriolet. Always has been, always will be one of my all time favorites.
3. 1967 Alfa Romeo Duetto. Not as famous or high performing as a Ferrari - but I like the accessibility. May even be able to buy one for myself at some point. Gorgeous design, too.

1970s
1. 1975-1979 Porsche 930. The original 911 Turbo. Would be a little scared to drive one, though.
2. 1971 MGB. Because I own one. Totally biased.
3. 1971 VW SuperBeetle. Again, for largely personal reasons. One of the first classic cars I remember ever, really, wanting. Still have my eyes on them, too.

1980s.
1. 1988 All-Trac Corolla. Obviously. The Wally-Wagon
2. 1985 BMW E30 M3.
3. Land Rover 90 / 110. Quintessential offroad vehicle.

1990s.
1. Ferrari 355 - based entirely on their appearces in 'The Rock', and 'Goldeneye'. Kinda-sorta buyable now. If you don't consider maintenance costs.
2. Porsche Boxster - always one of my favorites. Still prefer it to the 996 911s.
3. NB Mazda Miata - the best possible revival of the British Roadster. And the lights don't go out when you signal to make a right turn!

Interesting that I cheated to get 7 cars into my 90s list here and that they're all Japanese. Whereas my top 5 in the 2000s topic only has 1 Japanese car. Even weirder is that I would happily own any of these models, while the R35 is more an engineering masterpiece I respect but do not aspire to own.

The rest of the world really learned from the Japanese while that country's financial crisis made them overly conservative.
