One thing I'm not clear on is how they're certain Assad's forces carried out the attacks, and not some terror cell that got a hold of some nerve gas, or even the rebels themselves. The US government seems to be certain that Syrian troops were responsible, but hasn't released any evidence.

They think it's going to be like Libya, but Syria will be a tougher nut to crack. Not only do they have a stouter defenses, but American intervention in Syria is going to really piss off Russia. Plus, if Assad is ousted, anyone who takes over is likely going to be just as shitty as he is.

I really think the rebels gassed themselves, it just doesn't make sense for Assad to do so.

Exactly! Makes no sense for Assad to even try. A likely CIA based set up sounds more logical.

But logic is not needed in hegemon, geopolitics...

But this is not a slam dunk for the Excited States and its crony global friends. Russia for one has spent billions of dollars building a naval base in Syria, they ain't gonna like this much.

Next, look at a map of the world and see either by intention (probably) or not with how Russia and to a lesser extent China are surrounded by US puppet states and states with significant US military presence. Don't think that Russia and China do not see this too. The US kicking around idiots like Hussein and Qaddafi is one thing. Pissing off Russia and China including drawing them closer together is NOT A WISE GAME!

This said Russia could make a big stink off this shit. Winter could be very cold for much of Europe if for some reason Russian oil and gas supplies are oh some how disrupted this winter.

As to Assad in Syria, asshole he may be, if he has biological and chemical weapons and feels that the USA and its pathetic mostly Euro cronies are going to do to him what they did to Hussein and Qaddafi, I'm pretty certain he'd then likely release these weapons he has and surely blanket cities in Israel with them too.

Gung Ho Presidents of the USA often seem to check brains at the door. :classicsad:
