This will probably be the next game I buy and engross myself in. The original X-Com game was one of my all-time favorite games.
A demo came out on Steam and I just got done trying it out. Remove "Sonic Adventure 2" from the below video and replace it with "XCOM" and this was pretty much my reaction (nsfw language, loud).

Has anyone checked this game out? I'm having a blast with it.
In the strategic part of the game, governments in various nations will fund your operations, but if you don't help a nation enough, it will pull all of their funding. I say that because I found this article fucking hilarious:

That sounds pretty cool. I'm always so tempted to get into computer games - but I usually end up being too cheap / lazy get a console and set it up. And when I try to buy a home computer that plays games I get distracted by the ultra slim / small / portable laptops that look cool but can barely manage to run solitaire, under the false impression that someday I'll actually need portable computing (ie. more than the one time a year - on average - where I find myself away from home and in wanting access to my computer)

Oh they have it for 360 too. Hopefully it's not worse than the PC version. I may check it out after I finish with Forza Horizon.

I played the demo and I can't say that I love it. I think I killed my entire squad in the first 20 minutes.
The idea is pretty cool though.

Re: XCOM: Enemy Unknown
That first mission is entirely scripted and all but one of the squad members dies. The demo did way too much handholding for my tastes; it's the same as the tutorial in the full game. After that first mission, the tutorial then proceeds into full training-wheels mode for about an hour or so before it finally kisses you on the forehead and sends you on your way. But this is a game where you're going to lose quite a few soldiers, especially early on. Which makes it all the more satisfying when you turn the corner and get your strategy and loadouts and tech figured out.
Re: XCOM: Enemy Unknown
Maybe it was just because the Demo was a tutorial, but the RPG style moving of soldiers was kind of annoying, I don't like RPG games to begin with, so that's probably why I didn't care for it.
