Nope, codemasters. Thankfully Sony's exclusive license expired.
We just need to hope F1 2010 is more TOCA than Grid, etc.

if the driving was realistic it would be impossible to control with anything other than a steering wheel and pedals so thats not such a bad thing

Yeah, but there is a middle ground and most of us that are familiar with Codemasters recent road racers are right in being wary.
I personally am optimistic, although the smoothness hat guy had in the Video on a wet track is slightly worrying. The fact that Webber seems to always be in the 4th-8th range in the videos I've seen is a bigger worry for me though.

F1 games are too hard
It's hard enough convincing my friends to play Forza with me...

Really? You might want to look at the 15sec mark, you know where he actually turns off the braking assist and it also shows you everything else he's driving with. Oh noes. ABS

Re: I'm not even into F1
well that video proves to me how the physics are just recycled pro race driver physics.
Pass.
Pass.
Re: I'm not even into F1
Hahah, yeah, I was thinking the whole time - that driver is either extremely good, or that game is very forgiving. I could never ever get a smooth, fast lap in Grand Prix Legends (even with wheel and pedals). GTR was a bit easier but still challenging, so is probably my favourite racing game I've played.

Yeah, F1 Challenge (the game GTR is based off of) Is still the best F1 game to date. (not including GPL)

As bad ass as that looks, I am going to have to turn off the crashing as I often use opponents to help me slow down on on F1 games. :jay:

Re: I'm not even into F1
bought this today...best F1 game ive ever played by quite a long way...and id say ive played all of them pretty much.
the physics is pretty great. its not the very best and feels VERY arcade like/twitchy until you get used to it and can turn the driver aids off.
but, where it leaves every other game in the dust is how it captures the sheer ferocity of an F1 car. piloting the Ferrari F10 around Spa is incredible in this game. they've absolutely nailed the noise and you get an amazing sensation of speed and it feels as though its constantly a split second from being completely out of control at all times.
the only downside is ive yet to figure out how to race without it being in career mode or a time trial against the clock. i hope the feature is there somewhere.

Is this for the Play Station, or what? It looks pretty cool, but I'm still on the fence about buying a Computer Game Station.

Based on that I'm almost inclined to pick up a copy. Online multiplayer could be awesome, assuming every race didn't end with a massive pile-up at the first corner.

Re: I'm not even into F1
having played it a bit more there are four more things to note:
1. the AI is excellent. they overtake you properly and allow you to overtake them too. they will sooner spin off themselves than ram you.
2. the ghost car fades the closer you get to it so it doesnt interrupt you
3. there is absolutely no point doing races in the wet. you cant see a fucking thing and the feeling of being a knife edge away from out of control turns to actually being out of control. it will spin at least once a lap unless you have all driver aids on. which leads me to...
4. i dont think you can skip races or retire from them prematurely
im also a little skeptical of how i am 3rd in the championship in a lotus [you can only choose 1 of the three new teams in your first season in career mode] but i havent looked into the difficulty settings much yet

Oh, if all of us are playing it, it will. And unless he can get the pole every time, Sir Pennzoil Moss will surely get caught in it.Swerve wrote:Pennzoil GT-R wrote:bought this today...best F1 game ive ever played by quite a long way...and id say ive played all of them pretty much.

+100 on all of these. its about time somebody made a game where the ghost car doesn't get in your way, and the AI's primary mission isn't to put you into the wall or the sandtrap.Pennzoil GT-R wrote:

Funny how it seems most of them involve the Virgin cars with Lotus, HRT and Williams being other major crash players.
But the one where the McLaren is doing a high 360 backflip is
If real life F1 had all too many of those types of crashes it would not know what to do with itself as a sport.
Great video link Jayson.
