Go for the Omega.

My bro just picked up a really nice Hamilton Khaki chrono. Nice watch.

I'm going to say go with the Omega as well. I love the Speedmaster. They've got a beautiful vintage 1968 Speedmaster at a shop down in the mall for 2500. Would you get the wind up or the automatic? If memory serves the former is more expensive.

They are alternatives when you havn't decided on your budget yet. Kind of like me and considering an Audi A5, or a used acura RSX.

Wally, you don't race... especially on the water...

why not invest in some good scuba gear, or downhill skies instead.

I have good scuba gear. And I don't like skiing. Plus I'm learning to sail and I'm going start getting into kayaking more.

Ah, I figured scuba gear and ski equipment would be equally useless on the vast frozen tundra that is edmonton.

Its just under 2k GBP so i guess double that in canadian dollars? It's the best watch in the world aside from electronic ones.....but the Patek Phillipe is a Patek Phillipe. They're my two favourites....and one will be bought over the other.

Rod - Not really bothered what they cost...even though theyre miles apart.

Wally - Id get the wind up. I dont really like the reduced. I would also get a black leather strap i think

Yeah, that actually sounds about right. high $3000s here for the windup Speedmaster. i think the Automatic is a bit cheaper - mid to low 3s.

I agree with Rod. The Speedmaster is a beautiful watch. But it's still an Omega. It's still relatively common. If you can afford one, but not both, get the Patek. That's the sort of watch which is passed from generation to generation. It's a work of art.

WTF how do they justify that price? The porsche brand? Rolex watches cost less. Even audemars piguet!

In the long run, you'll save money on the $100k wind-up watches above.

People would assume the face had fallen off your Timex. The decomposing appearance of the bezel doesn't help.
