There is nothing wrong with a tie game if the game was played well and with excitement. This video shows how hard the lack lustre California Golden Seals played to get a 3-3 tie against one of the top teams, Montreal Canadiens. They viewed it and looking at the fans at the end of the games as if it were a victory. One point more in the standings for the Seals.
BTW does those nice white boards look so good, compared to the adverts on rink boards nowadays.
