Since you don't live in the United States, you could probably watch more football than most of us here can. For some reason the NFL tries their absolute damnedest to make sure no one's watching their games if there's a seat open in a stadium within a 1000 mile radius, but if you're outside of the country, you get all kinds of access to all kinds of games.

Actually, one of our commercial networks did just started showing 3 or 4 NFL games a week on their HD channel this season. I haven't seen one yet though as they're on at ridiculous times in the morning and on weekdays. I really should record one though as it's supposed to look really good in HD.

That's where I am with my WR corps. Everything else is working out fine, but my WR situation is crap right now.

I'm still undefeated though so far. Only one other team that's 4-0, but they've been stronger than I've been.

Well, it was a valiant effort, but a 41 point deficit heading into MNF was too much to overcome. Ryan Longwell did his part...got me 14 fantasy points. But Drew Brees not throwing TDs put the nail in this coffin. 55-69 loss. Woe

Oh well...4-1 ain't bad. Hopefully at least one member of my team not named Ryan Longwell won't play like total shit next week.

Resounding victory this week in my pay league with the top total of the week. Log jam with 6 of 10 at 3-2.

In my non-pay league I'm 0-5 after losing the last 2 weeks by a combined 5pts.

I'm sure Marvin won't stay consistent, but it was good to get all those damn fantasy points from him for once. He'd been averaging, like 4 or 5 points per game until then.

I still have receiver problems outside of Marvin, but I'm trying to work on that. I have both the 2nd and 5th ranked DSTs. I'm trying to shop one of them around plus one of my mid-range WRs to some teams with a shitty DST to get a good WR.

You might not, but half of these guys don't even switch out players during bye weeks. Last week we might have seen the end of the last undefeated team in the league, had they not been playing a Bills homer who'd stocked all but two of his main players from the Bills roster, and they were on their bye that day.

So I'm counting on somebody biting. Especially since they could swing another 12 points a week by switching their defense with one of mine.

My receivers are just shitting up the place. 2 of my 3 receivers combined to score one damn fantasy point.

Good weekend though...I'm forty points ahead in my game, and unless Denver's kicker scores 40 points tomorrow night, I've got it won. The last undefeated team has been beaten, so I should move up to the top of the power rankings. LenDale White...holy shit, he saved me. He's usually good for around 10 points or so every week, but this week...32 damn fantasy points. :hail: :hail: :hail:

Re: Fantasy Football

Post by JaysonAych on Mon Nov 03, 2008 8:29 pm

This week, three of my starters were on their bye, including Drew Brees. I had to start Cutler and he was nice enough to throw 3 picks. At least he was good for a couple of TDs...no other player on my team racked up a TD. And my kicker was only good for 4 XPs.

However, my opponent hasn't had a good weekend either. I'm 6 points down going into MNF. All I have left is the Steelers DST. He has Roethlisberger and Santana Moss. If the Steelers D has a great night and causes Moss to have an off game or if Moss aggravates his injury, I can squeak something out, but it's not looking good.

If I lose this game, I lose sole possession of 1st in my division and drop into a tie for 1st. :smelly:

I need Matt Jones to get 40 yards against Houston on MNF to win this week's game. I though Adrian Peterson was going to rape me, but he only found the end zone once. I was pissed about that because the Vikings put in another RB for the first two plays of that goal situation and he got stuffed, then they put Peterson in on the third one and he scored.

Thank god he sat Mark Clayton...he got 29 fantasy points today.

Holy shit...the guy I'm playing against had Brett Favre, Thomas Jones, T.O., and Steve Slaton...judging by their scoring this season, I thought I was going to get absolutely raped after that blunder with Vincent Jackson, Antonio Gates doing absolutely nothing, and Marion Barber being out for me.

But all of the aforementioned opponents ended up with mediocre games, and my newly-acquired backup RB Pierre Thomas and the Steelers D stepped it the fuck up for me. I'm up 41 points going into Monday night with his D (the Bucs) still to play.

I have no business being this far up right now

Re: Fantasy Football

Post by JaysonAych on Sun Dec 14, 2008 11:19 pm

Almost made a catastrophic mistake...

I had to decide which RB would be my 2nd RB. I'd been using LenDale White, and he's been having a great season. He got hurt last weekend, and was kinda day to day, but he was activated for the game. He was playing against Houston, and I can only think of a couple of times I ever deactivated him (and one was his bye week), so I had no reason to doubt he'd do well.

Also, I had Dominic Rhodes waiting in the wings. The Colts were playing the Lions, and Joseph Addai was out, so he stood to make bank.

I also had Kevin Faulk, and the Pats were playing Oakland. He usually has average numbers, which would likely go up against the Raiders.

In the end, I decided to stick with the girl I brought to the dance, and keep LenDale in there.

I fucked up. He only scored two fantasy points, whereas Rhodes scored 23 and Faulk scored 16. The rest of my team did better than average, and I thought for sure I was still going to get booted from the playoffs. Fortunately, the guy I played against had the Kurt Warner/Anquan Boldin tandem, and they didn't do much today. And the "controversial" Santonio Holmes touchdown at the end (after he did shit-all the previous 3 quarters) gave me some breathing room going into Monday night.

Not out of the woods yet though...his kicker has yet to play and I have a 15 point lead. David Akers could conceivably kick 15 points worth of figgies and XPs versus Cleveland, so it's not in the bag, but I feel a bit better than I did before that Holmes TD.

Re: Fantasy Football

Post by 911 on Thu Dec 18, 2008 9:36 pm

After pretty much ignoring this thread all year, I'll post up my Super Bowl. 350 for the winner, 100 for the loser. It's in the league I run too and I've made playoffs all 3 years (10 team league and mostly vets):

My Team:

QB: Struggling between playing McNabb @ Redskins or Cassel at home. Snow predicted

RB: Steve Slaton @ Oakland (rejoice) and LT @ TBay (bad matchup but it's either LT or Chris Johnson at Pittsburgh)

WR: Andre Johnson @ Oakland and Randy Moss at home Vs. Arizona.

TE: Currently Dustin Keller. Had been running Visanthe "Equipment Manager" Shiancoe but I've little faith.

We play individual defense so Patrick Willis is my main man.

Playing against:

QB: Peyton Manning

WR: Reggie Wayne, Roddy White

RB: Adrian Peterson (Vikings), Michael Turner

TE: Dallas Clark

So basically if the game tonight holds as it currently is at half I should be OK. Hopefully Gonzales and Rhodes steal any additional TDs so at least he doesn't double up.

:roflmao: :roflmao: I love the "equipment manager" nickname for Shiancoe

I had a weird situation...the guy I'm playing against beat the top scoring team in last week's playoff game. Some people would say whew...they got lucky, and by extension, so did I because don't have to play against the top scorer.

However, I only lost two games this season. One of them to my eventual Super Bowl opponent.

My final team:

Drew Brees

Pierre Thomas
Dominic Rhodes

Jerricho Cotchery
Santonio Holmes
Vincent Jackson

Antonio Gates

Ryan Longwell

Steelers DST

=======================

His team

Matt Cassell

Ronnie Brown
Matt Forte

Isaac Bruce
Greg Jennings
Randy Moss

Jason Witten

Stephen Gostkowski

Dolphins DST

I swear, the Patriots exist only to make me more miserable. It's like, "This year, we might not get a chance to fuck Jason over in the playoffs IRL, so lets fuck over his fantasy team by running up the score on the Cardinals." God dammit. My defense, powered by the almighty Steelers, really helped me out :curses: by taking a huge shit on the field and coming away with 1 damn point on the day, when they usually get at least 15.

I haven't officially lost yet, but it's virtually assured at this point. :smelly:
